Guatemala Feeding Picture

Javesca

A framed 8 x 10 picture of Javesca's lastest food distribution in Guatemala.  This year Javesca visited Chimaltenango Guatemala.  The area of Chimaltenango (shortened to Chimal) is known for its elevation, craftsmen, and magnificent views.  It is also houses some of the worst poverty in Guatemala which is where we headed.

This picture was taken in a dump with around 40-60 people living there full time.  These people make their living by digging through trash and a lot of their food comes from there as well.  This leads to much disease and malnutrition especially for children.  Javesca distributed food bags containing vegetable oil, rice, beans, brown sugar, oats, milk, and dried fruit.  These would feed a family for approximately for a week on a balanced diet.
